Three Ways to Balance Work While Loving Life

Working as a freelance artist presents various difficulties, one of which being that most freelancers do not receive the typical paid-vacation time that traditional employees do (even though we are work full time)! With that being said, it is extremely important to set time aside for yourself no matter how much you love your job. Here are three tips to help you balance work while loving your life:

1) Pace yourself-

Don't become so absorbed in your work that you risk losing your identity. Yes, it is important to work hard, but when you become burnt out from your work, it is important to take some personal time and relax. Remember: Working is a way to finance your life, but you don't have to make it your entire life. In other words, work hard but don't let work overwhelm your life. As much as I LOVE transforming my clients' hair and perception of themselves, I understand that loving my personal life is just as (if not more) important. Take vacations, engage in alternative hobbies, and finally pace your journey in life, so that you will enjoy every moment.

2) Know yourself-

Do you feel overwhelmed and/or overpowered by all the pressure and stress your work life is causing you? If so, perhaps it's time to figure out who you are, to truly find yourself, and determine when to say enough is enough. The bottom line is that in order to live a meaningful life, you need to understand yourself, you need to be confident, and you need to know when it's time to move on or end and/or start a new project in your life.

3) Love yourself -

If you don't love yourself inside and out, it will reflect on your work and could disrupt your overall productivity. You are in charge of your own happiness, and even though others will try to control you, your ability to love your life and be proud of your talent is all that matters at the end of the day. Fall in love with who you are and what your talent is, and your clients will fall in love with your abilities, too!

BalanceWorkWhileLovingLife

It's important to work hard and take life seriously but still know how to take it one day at a time. When you are feeling overwhelmed, remember the following: PACE, KNOW, & LOVE yourself. If you need to re-energize, take a vacation or a brief break to stay in touch with who you are because the more you enjoy your life and who you are as a person, the more you will positively impact others!

Stop waiting for Friday, for summer, for someone to fall in love with you, for life. Happiness is achieved when you stop waiting for it and make the most of the moment you are in now.

Thank you for all of your submissions to "Ask Larisa"! I love reading your questions and being able to supply answers. Due to the large volume of questions I receive, I will only be able to post three answers each week. Be sure to read my posts each Saturday to see if I answer YOUR question. Thanks for all of the love and support! Xo Larisa

1) Paola M. asked:

"Is foundation part of your daily makeup routine? If so which is your go to? Love how fresh your look is. :)

LL: Absolutely. I make sure I wear a moisturizer with spf, and then I apply Bare Minerals Original Powder on my face & call it a day. I love Bare Minerals because it lets my skin breath while giving me the perfect coverage. Xo

2) Jordan T. asked:

"Hi Larisa, I am constantly amazed by your ability to change your haircolor so often and so dramatically in tone. My question is: What is your favourite color remover/stripper? I've use both Pravana and Kenra's extractors, but I have been underwhelmed....or do you prefer bleach washes? Thank you! Keep on inspiring and makin' good hair girl! :)"

LL:  I actually really love the Pravana color remover. It works wonders! Be sure to put it on and saturate it evenly, and put the hair under the dryer for 25 min. It will strip all the artificial color off. Xo

3) Stacy L. asked:

"Hey girly! What system/s do you use for scheduling, tracking client info, and product/service sales?"

LL: All bookings, scheduling, and confirmations are done through my iPhone. I have two separate phones: A personal & a business phone. Basically my life for the next two years is scheduled for me on my iPhone. Thank God for the iCloud. :) Xo
